A new party seeking registration, Parti Harapan Malaysia (PHM), has reminded the opposition pact using the name Pakatan Harapan that it was first in using the “Harapan” name.
PHM had sent an application to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to register its name back in 2015.
At that time, the opposition pact was known as Pakatan Rakyat.
PHM pro tem committee deputy president Johari Musa said he sent a letter to RoS Malaysia director-general Mohammad Razin Abdullah, urging him to speed up its registration.
Meeting reporters after delivering the letter to RoS here, he said the application to register PHM was sent on Dec 10, 2015.
On March 6, last year, he paid the registration fee under the name of Parti Harapan Malaysia.
“Since March 6, we have not received any news from the RoS.
“The last check several months ago found the party status was waiting for approval.”
Johari said PHM wanted to take part in the coming general election by moving legitimately under the law.
He said more than 40,000 individuals nationwide aspired to join the party.
