BUTTERWORTH:
Police detained three men and are looking for three others in connection with a fight between two groups at a nasi kandar restaurant in Chai Leng Park here early yesterday morning.

Seberang Perai Tengah District Police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the brawl at 3.17am was believed to be due to a misunderstanding involving one group (four men) and another group (two men) who were dining there.

“Initial investigations found that the group of four men had beckoned a waiter at the restaurant but the two men thought they were calling them and threw chunks of chicken they were eating in the direction of the four men.

“Following this, a fight broke out between the two groups with the restaurant workers intervening. An employee was injured on the right hand. No one else was hurt,” he said.

Police have so far arrested three men, aged between 20 and 24, in the vicinity of Perai and are looking for three other suspects, in their 20s, to assist in investigations.

Nik Ros Azhan said police believe they can arrest the three other men involved in the fight soon because their faces were recorded by the closed circuit television at the restaurant.
