Isa was responding to National Felda Settlers Children Association (Anak) chairman Mazlan Aliman’s claim that FGV president and CEO Zakaria Arshad, who had been ordered to take a leave of absence, was the latest victim of the FGV chairman.
“Has he (Mazlan) paid the money he owes us? If not, pay first lah,” he said, referring to a High Court decision in May 2015, which found Mazlan and printing firm Angkatan Edaran Enterprise Sdn Bhd guilty of defamation over the contents of Mazlan’s book published in 2008. They were ordered to pay RM350,000 to Felda.
“We shouldn’t pay too much attention to people like this who oppose. Furthermore, he is not right,” Isa told reporters after attending a programme at the Felda headquarters here.
Mazlan had on Tuesday claimed that Isa was hostile to Zakaria and went all out to dig up his wrongdoings.
He said former Felda director-general Zulkifli Abdul Wahab had suffered a similar fate over issues relating to FGV when Isa held the post of Felda chairman.
Mazlan added that Zulkifli’s successor, Faizoull Ahmad, was also placed in “cold storage”, until he was charged in the Sessions Court recently.
Isa, who is a former Umno vice-president, said the opposition’s attacks against him could not be used as a yardstick to weigh his actions.
He said the opposition would still find fault in Felda whether or not action was taken.
“So we can’t count on their views. If we don’t take action, we are wrong; if we act, then we are victimising. So, what should we do?”
