SHAH ALAM:
Police are closing in on two youths who allegedly robbed two Uber passengers in Cheras on Sunday.

Selangor police chief Abdul Samah Mat said the suspects, in their 20s, had been identified following the arrest of a 31-year-old Uber driver in Kajang at 12.45am yesterday.

“Upon questioning the driver, we believe he has links with the two suspects.

“We urge those Uber passengers who had been robbed previously to contact us to facilitate investigations,” he told reporters at the state police contingent headquarters here today.

The victims, both aged 24, were reportedly robbed by two motorcyclists shortly after their Uber driver left them at a location at the 9th mile in Cheras.

The motorcyclists also assaulted the passengers with helmets before escaping with the victims’ valuables.

Earlier, Abdul Samah attended the handing over of duties ceremony for Selangor’s new police deputy chief Ab Rashid Ab Wahab.

Rashid, who was Perlis police chief, is taking over from Mohd Fuad Abd Latiff, who will retire tomorrow.
