Police record statement of doctor who treated navy cadet

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded the statement of the doctor who treated navy cadet officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain to enable a comprehensive investigation into his death.

Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said police were also tracking down several other individuals to assist in the investigation.

“So far, only 36 students aged between 20 and 21 years were remanded to assist in the investigation on the incident, and we are in the process of taking down the statement of the doctor concerned,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Zulfarhan, 21, died at the Serdang Hospital at 10pm on Thursday with bruises and burn marks on his body, suspected to be the results of abuse.

His death is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Police remanded 36 Malaysian Na­­tional Defence University and Universiti Tenaga Nasional students for seven days beginning yesterday to assist in the investigation.
