In a statement today, the finance ministry said some 775,000 pensioners would also enjoy a sum of RM250 each in recognition of their service.
“Payment for special assistance will be made before June 9,” the statement said.
The special financial assistance to civil servants and pensioners will involve a budget allocation of RM1 billion.
“The government hopes that this special assistance can alleviate the financial burden of civil servants and pensioners in preparing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2017,” it said.
