
Johor Criminal Investigation Department head Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the money was believed to have been stolen from the man’s car at 2.15pm when the man, 45, was in a nearby food outlet.
“Earlier, the company director had withdrawn the money from a bank here to pay his employees’ salaries.
“He placed the plastic bag of money under the driver’s seat and drove the car to the parking area before having lunch at a nearby eatery,” he said in a statement here today.
Kamarul Zaman said two minutes later, the company director was informed by members of the public that his car window had been smashed.
He said upon checking, the man found that his car window on the driver’s side had been smashed and the plastic bag containing the money placed under the driver’s seat missing.
“It is believed that two men on a motorcycle were involved in the crime,” he said.
Police are investigating the incident under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
