Communications head Zeffri Yusof said this would help them leverage on opportunities and assist in managing operations.
“Technological software, for example, can help smoothen the gathering of data for a company, and this data can be analysed more accurately to give companies an edge in the market,” he said.
Zeffri said a company could be a strong industry player when investments in technology were prioritised.
“Take Google Maps, for example. We use layers of data using a global information system, or GIS, to create accurate coordinates and give more information about a place,” he said.
He added that using data to create visualisations would give a company a wider overview of its operations and expedite decision-making.
It will also eventually optimise a company’s operational cost, he said.
Google Malaysia emerged first in a recent survey by JobStreet.com of the top 10 companies Malaysians aspire to work for.
The survey involved 10,241 Malaysian employees across all position levels.
According to the survey, Malaysians prioritise career development opportunities, citing this as the main reason they would want to work with top companies.
Using its technology, Google gathers online data on its candidates to determine the best fit.
“With the data, Google Malaysia has derived our own formula to find the best candidate and refine our search,” Zeffri said.
The US-based tech giant is not the only company that uses technology as its main enabler.
Recently, UEM Edgenta, a company providing asset management services to clients around the world, said it has plans for greater use of technology to streamline its three core offerings.
Managing director and CEO Azmir Merican said UEM Edgenta would use technology enablers, develop smart solutions and make full use of the company’s centralised monitoring facility (CnC) to gain efficiency across its operations.
“This is to reduce redundancies and operational expenditure and further showcase our business expertise in end-to-end services to our current and potential customers,” he said.
