In a tweet, Navy chief Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaru said the KD Perdana’s boat, with the nine crew members on board, was sighted by a merchant ship 90 nautical miles east of Kuantan.
“KD Perdana ship’s boat located by RMAF Beechcraft 90nm east of Kuantan following earlier sighting by a merchant ship. TQ to all,” he said.
“Visual confirmation by @airforcenextgen Beechcraft. All looks good and safe. Thank you all.”
The RMN, in a statement today, said the KD Perdana had lost contact with its boarding team during an operation against illegal fishermen in the waters of Tanjung Sedili on Saturday.
The statement said an officer and eight personnel were on board the boat, which was on a routine patrol to drive out foreign fishing boats from the area.
