This is despite PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s instruction on Tuesday for all the party’s political appointees in the state government to immediately vacate their posts.
Wan Azizah said the move followed the decision of PAS’ Syura Council last week to cut all political ties with her party.
“Personally, I haven’t received any resignation letter,” Fattah said to FMT.
Fattah is the Kelantan local government, housing, youth and sports committee chairman. PKR has 37 local councillors, 14 village chiefs and three parliamentary supervisors in the PAS-controlled state.
Fattah expressed hope that all the appointed PKR representatives would stay in their respective posts, at least until the end of the year.
“This is because we have already made the appointments, and some of them have already taken the oath to serve while the rest will do so this Sunday.
“We hope they will stay until year-end, although it would be better if they stayed until after the 14th general election.”
He advised them to avoid prioritising political interests as their duty was to care for the public’s welfare, which was much more important.
“Although our political ties have been severed, we have to continue our working relationship (in the state), especially when it comes to the protection of public welfare.
“So (we have to) set aside our political interests and focus on our agenda to help the people.
“Because the time that we have to serve the people is coming to an end, considering the fact that the general election is coming soon. Our duty to the public has to be fulfilled.”
