According to The Star, the 22-year-old is believed to be a drug mule for an African cartel.

Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) deputy commander Arjunaidi Mohamed told the daily that the young man was likely transporting the drugs to a neighbouring country as “there is no market for cocaine in Malaysia”.

Arjunaidi was part of the team that arrested the man at about 6pm on Friday. Other members comprised Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department personnel and additional officers from STING.

They seized a total of 3.8kg of cocaine, which the man had concealed in tins and tried to pass off as chocolates, Arjunaidi was quoted as saying.

In the report, Arjunaidi also credited the team’s counterparts in Togo for giving them the tip-off.
