PETALING JAYA:
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is scheduled to undergo heart surgery tomorrow.

In making the announcement, Hadi’s secretary Zubir Mohd Daik made an appeal to all PAS members and supporters, asking them to hold a solat hajat (special prayer) for the Marang MP.

“I urge all Muslims to please pray for the success of Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Awang’s heart surgery, which is scheduled to be performed on May 16, 2017.

“May Allah bless our president,” he said, according to New Straits Times.

However, Zubir’s statement did not indicate where the heart surgery will be taking place tomorrow and the type of heart surgery being carried out.

Last year, Hadi was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) on two separate occasions, first in January and next in early October.

No specific reason was given for the six-day stay at the hospital in October but a spokesman for PAS said Hadi was admitted to receive his follow-up treatments.

Prior to last year, Hadi was warded at IJN in 2014, reportedly for a heart problem. It is not known if tomorrow’s surgery is related to the same problem.
