The three warships – destroyer CNS Changchun Type 052C, frigate CNS Jingzhou Type 054A and replenishment ship CNS Chaohu Type 903 – are expected to arrive at the Butterworth port at 10am on May 12.
Penang Port Commission chairman Tan Teik Cheng said the warships will be docked at the port for three nights.
“The visiting warships will help strengthen cooperation and trust between Malaysia and China, as well as enhance friendly relations,” he said in a statement today.
Tan, who is also Penang MCA chairman, said port authorities have been put on alert to give the warships a smooth sailing across the channel.
He added that China’s consul-general to Penang, Wu Jun, would be supervising the frigates’ visit to the state.
