
She said it was a manipulative and deceitful act by BN to have the upper hand in the coming general election.
Nurul Izzah said limited access to the electoral roll would allow malicious acts to be committed during the elections and it would be nearly impossible to verify the transparency of the election process.
“It’s not enough that they (EC) have done so many manipulations. They now want to deny us any transparent closure over the flawed electoral list,” she said at PKR headquarters today.
She said EC’s move to stop the distribution will also increase the public’s suspicion towards the body in maintaining its neutrality on the democratic process.
Last week, EC secretary Abdul Ghani Salleh confirmed that the EC is no longer providing copies of draft electoral rolls during the display period as it feels that public display is sufficient to inform voters of their status.
“Based on EC’s 773rd meeting on March 28, we have come to the decision to no longer supply the draft electoral roll, in both book form and compact disc, starting with the first quarter of 2017,” he said.
