The Primary 5 pupil’s grandfather fetched him from school around 1pm and on arriving home, the boy went to his bedroom.

The grandfather went to check on him when the boy did not come out after about three hours. The man was shocked to find his grandson hanging in the bedroom.

Medical personnel who were sent to the house pronounced the boy dead on site.

Deputy Padawan District police chief DSP Merbin Lisa told the Borneo Post that there were no indications of foul play at the moment.

He said it was usually the boy’s routine after arriving home from school to go to his bedroom, and he would usually come out around 4pm.

“When he did not emerge, family members went to check. They saw him hanging inside the bedroom,” said Merbin

He said the reason behind this incident remained unclear.

“The family members did not notice anything amiss with the boy and the boy also never mentioned to them about having any problem,” said Merbin.

The body was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post-mortem. Police have classified the incident as sudden death.
