Speaking at the PAS Youth muktamar, Mohamed Sukri Omar said without PAS’ election machinery, it would have been difficult for Azmin and Rafizi to have won the Gombak and Pandan parliamentary seats.
He challenged Rafizi to stand for re-election in Pandan if he continued to criticise PAS, adding that his attacks wouldn’t shake the party.
“The same goes for the (Selangor) menteri besar; he can call us ‘lebai’ (someone who wears a skullcap), (but) remember, without our machinery, you may have occupied the Gombak seat for the last term.”
Sukri said this in response to Rafizi’s recent criticism of PAS, in which he had linked 1MDB funds to former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa. Sukri’s comments against Azmin, meanwhile, were in reference to a recent tweet by the Selangor menteri besar.
In the tweet, Azmin appeared to mock PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who lost the contest for the Pengkalan Chepa PAS deputy chief post.
Previously, Nik Abduh had confirmed that PAS wanted to take over Selangor.
Sukri said although Selangor PAS Youth wanted PAS to end its political cooperation with PKR, he would leave it to the Syura Council – PAS’ highest decision-making body – to make a final decision.
“We are confident that there are those in PKR who want change and have the same enemies as us, so we want to invite them to join us in Gagasan Sejahtera to save Malaysia.”
The Gagasan Sejahtera coalition involves PAS, Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) and Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa).
