She told the state assembly today that the allegation by Umno’s Kuang assemblyman Abdul Shukur Idrus that there were state assembly members holding on to cash meant for distribution was untrue, and payments to eligible recipient would be completed in due course.
Daroyah, who is in charge of health, welfare, women and family affairs said payments under the foundation’s Skim Mesra Usia Emas (Senior Citizens Friendly Scheme) will be settled in two months in all cases where documentations are complete.
“The disbursing of RM1,000 each for senior citizens will be done in the first and second phases, while RM1,500 will be given two months after the relevant documents are handed over by the state assembly members’ offices to the district offices,” she said.
“This means that the RM1,000 cash is held by the assembly members and RM1,500 by the district offices.
“The assembly members will pass the payments to the recipients of the scheme during the programmes that will be organised,” she added.
Daroyah, who is the assembly representative for Sementa, said in her winding-up speech in the house that there were no problems of assembly members holding on to RM2,500 cash that never reached the one it was meant for.
She said this in replying to a question by Shukur who alleged that inheritors of deceased senior citizens have not been getting the aid from the scheme as they were supposed to within 60 days.
Daroyah characterised allegations that the state had misappropriated the scheme’s funds as ill-intended (malicious) and untrue.
She said under the current state administration all matters related to finances for the people have been overseen with integrity.
“The scheme under the Yayasan continues to operate transparently as before to ensure aid is delivered in line with the ‘Smart Selangor’ agenda to develop the nation’s people and prosper the state,” she said.
“The allegation by the assemblyman from Kluang that Yawas has failed to administer funds meant for beneficiaries of senior citizens who pass away is altogether untrue and is ill-intentioned,” she said.
Discontented with her reply, Shukur sought clarification a number of times on the issue while she was speaking.
However Deputy Speaker Mohd Shafie Ngah asked Shukur calm down and allow Daroyah to respond to questions directed to her.
“Please sit down. I will be fair to anyone who has a question, but let it be one by one,” he said.
“If the executive councillor is in the middle of answering and does not give way at that time then let her answer first.
“Do not worry. I will give space for questions. We are here to see that the interests of the people are raised.”
