The grocery section of the store was ordered to close for 14 days after the discovery of rats on its premises.
A video clip of a rat on the shelf was widely circulated on social media.
“The premises can reopen for business earlier if a re-inspection by health authorities finds its cleanliness level is satisfactory,” said Health director Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today.
He said the ministry had conducted 635,439 inspections on food premises in Malaysia from 2012 to 2016.
“As a result of the inspections, 15,731 premises were ordered to close under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983, for several reasons, including the presence of rats.
“In addition, during the period July 2013 to 2016, 24,266 compound fines were issued to employers who failed to comply with food hygiene requirements.”
