“The suspect allegedly robbed the recruits while transporting them from the KTM station here to the army training centre in Port Dickson,” said state deputy police chief Muhammad Zaki Harun.
The 29-year-old suspect detained was attached to the army training centre in Port Dickson.
Police said they are looking for several others to help them in their investigation.
The suspect was assigned to fetch the recruits from the train station at 3.45pm on Friday, reported The Star.
After fetching them in a van, the suspect allegedly took the recruits to a secluded spot in Mambau. He then threatened them to hand over their cash and handphones.
The recruits were later dropped off at a petrol station in Port Dickson. They subsequently lodged reports at the Port Dickson police station.
“The case is being investigated for gang robbery under section 395 of the Penal Code,” said Zaki.
