He said the overlapping was detected during preliminary discussions.
“We had discussions three days ago and all parties gave information on the seats they wanted to compete.
“When we look at the list, some seats requested by PKR, PPBM (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) and Amanah overlap.
“We need to discuss this further,” he said after the Federal Territories PKR Convention at Sultan Sulaiman Club here today.
Saifuddin did not state the number of overlapping seats.
Elaborating, he said he did not want a repeat of what happened to the opposition during 13th general election and the Sarawak state election.
“The opposition parties, PAS, DAP, PKR and Amanah, competed against each other after failing to reach a consensus on the distribution of seats.”
He said during the central level discussions, there were no duplications in seats for the Sarawak elections. But then PAS proceeded to place candidates in seven areas where PKR had agreed to contest.
PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin had said the party had informed PH about the state and parliamentary seats it was keen to contest, stating its focus was on the Malay heartland areas.
PPBM was recently accepted into PH, making the party the 4th member in the coalition, together with PKR, DAP and Amanah.
