SUNGAI PETANI: The allegation by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir that Kedah has been neglected by the federal government after Barisan Nasional (BN) wrested back the state in the previous general election, is only meant to gain support from the people.

Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the allegation should be supported with proof if there is any truth to it.

“He (Mukhriz) said ‘neglected’ but before he became part of the opposition, (he) didn’t even mention that Kedah was neglected. Show (us) what has been neglected.

“To me, it’s just an allegation to seek support and to confuse the people. That is the opposition’s job so that the people will sympathise with the opposition, vote for them and reject the BN government,” he said.

Bashah was speaking at a press conference after meeting the Kedah staff of the Community Development Department (Kemas) at the AIMST University here today.

Kedah had received a lot of assistance from the federal government, including the RM320 million via the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) for the implementation of the Kedah Rubber City and the Kedah Science and Technology Park projects.
