“It (apologising) will never happen,” Azmin told reporters when asked if the Selangor government would apologise to Khalid and seven former MBI staff after the courts dismissed the state’s bid to reclaim the RM2.7 million payment Khalid approved for the seven.
Azmin was speaking to reporters here today after launching the Selangor Book Fair at the Shah Alam Convention Centre.
Asked if the state government would appeal against the judgment, he said this matter was with the state’s lawyers and a decision would be made after obtaining the written judgment on the case.
“We should not look at the answers separately because the judgment passed by the judge had also mentioned that a menteri besar should not have absolute powers.
“(Khalid) did not refer to the (MBI) board,” he said.
Azmin added it was a moral issue as significant decisions should not be made only by one person.
He added such a practice was unacceptable in today’s era and “this was also said by the judge”.
Khalid had said yesterday that the Shah Alam High Court’s decision showed the compensation paid to his then seven officers was legitimate.
He was previously accused of abuse in approving the payments to the seven, who included his political secretary, Faekah Husin.
Khalid resigned as MB in 2014 following an extended campaign against him by his party and its allies.
MBI Corporation had sued the seven former staff for the sum after alleging the payments were beyond what they were entitled to receive.
