In a written reply dated March 23, the works ministry said the project involved a 100m road and included the construction of drainage and utilities, electronic fences, security systems and a design structure at the entrance.
The project began on March 21 last year and was expected to have finished in 12 months by March 20 this year.
However, due to delays in the concrete pavement works, the project was forced to be rescheduled.
“Currently, the progress at the site is only 72% completed compared with the 92% scheduled,” the ministry said.
The ministry was responding to a question posed by Ong Kian Ming (Serdang-DAP) who had asked for the government to state how much it had spent on the entrance to the speaker’s residence.
The current Dewan Rakyat speaker is Pandikar Amin Mulia.
