
Bazlan Abdul Rahman (BN-Batu Rakit) said this was an improvement from the 71.43% who passed in 2015.
“This proves that the Trenglish programme has managed to improve the English proficiency of the students.
“Unfortunately, the programme is only implemented in 50 schools, which is only about 10% of the 501 schools in the state.
“Therefore, I hope the state government will review the programme for expansion into more schools, maybe 250 in the near future,” he said while debating the royal address by the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, at the Terengganu assembly today.
The Trenglish programme was introduced in 2014 in a collaborative effort between the state government and the state Education Department.
It employs an interactive approach and teaches English through language camps, and drama and nasyid performances.
