PETALING JAYA:
Despite engaging in a public spat, “arch enemies” former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and cabinet minister Nazri Abdul Aziz met over a bowl of cendol and laksa in Kuala Kangsar today.

Nazri had met with Mahathir, who’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman, at a small stall located in the vicinity of Dataran Lembah at 4.25pm, Utusan Online reported.

Present was Mahathir’s son Mukhriz, his wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali and PPBM’s entourage.

The meeting was reported to be cordial throughout. Nazri was reported to have last met Mahathir five years ago.

Nazri was also reported to be well-received by PPBM members, where they had posed for “selfies” with the outspoken tourism and culture minister.

Nazri had accepted Mahathir’s challenge to a public debate over the 1MDB and Bumiputra Malaysia Finance controversies, as well as the RM2.6 billion donation from the Saudi royal family.

The debate was originally slated for today at the Mara Junior College hall in Padang Rengas, near Kuala Kangsar, but this was scrapped after police rejected the venue.

The debate is now expected to be held on April 7 at the Karangkraf Complex in Section 15, Shah Alam.
