
No plea was taken from Mohamad Awang, 41, a technician and Anwar, 28, an Indonesian farmer.
They allegedly committed the offence in front of Crystal Crown Hotel on Jalan Jambu Mawar, off Jalan Kepong here, at noon on Feb 21.
The charge under Section 130JA of the Penal Code, read together with Section 511 of the same code, carries a maximum 30 years’ imprisonment and a fine on conviction.
Anwar stands accused of another charge of keeping an Islamic State-related video in his mobile phone.
He allegedly committed the offence at the same place, time and date, under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum seven years’ imprisonment or a fine, and forfeiture of any relevant asset.
Judge Zaman Mohd Noor fixed April 28 for re-mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurfaida Mohd Rashidee appeared for the prosecution but the duo were unrepresented.
