She posted a warning on Facebook, along with CCTV footage of the incident which she said took place at the mall’s Asian Avenue section.
In the video, she is seen standing at the counter beside a woman wearing a headscarf.
As she examines a piece of clothing, another woman also in a headscarf comes up behind her and uses a shirt on a hanger to block her actions while reaching into the girl’s backpack.
Seconds later, both women leave.
According to the girl’s Facebook post, the incident happened at 5.55pm. She said she was alone in the shop. Two of her friends were standing outside as they had food with them.
After less than five minutes in the shop, she said she looked for her phone but realised it had been stolen.
Another shopper at the same outlet also had her phone stolen, she said.
It is not known whether the culprits were caught, but media reports say there have been several incidents involving pickpockets at shopping malls around the Klang Valley.
