MCA slams DAP’s ‘Milo tin’ fundraising for Chinese community

KUALA LUMPUR:
MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong says unlike MCA, DAP has not done much to help the Chinese community.

In particular, he said DAP lagged behind in providing aid for Chinese schools.

“There is no basis for comparison because they use a Milo tin to collect money, and not even 10 sen is given to Chinese schools.

“If you want to make a comparison, I don’t know how many times MCA has given as compared with the quantum they have given,” he said at the Dewan Rakyat lobby today.

Wee was responding to Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng, who earlier today asked MCA to declare its assets and the amount spent on the Chinese community.

“If that is the case, DAP should likewise declare the amount it has given,” Wee said, adding: “It would be shameful on them because I do not think they give a single sen to Chinese schools.”

He added that MCA used its own funds to assist Chinese schools and had also built Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, while DAP had not built so much as a kindergarten.

“So just do what you think is good for the community. Just do it. Why bother about other parties,” the Ayer Hitam MP said, before challenging DAP to name the projects the party had funded.
