PETALING JAYA: Harapan Komuniti, the reading centre founded by abducted pastor Raymond Koh, is closing this month due to a lack of funds.

Sin Chew Daily today reported that the centre in PJS3/48 here would close because funds had dried up and no one had stepped forward to help.

A worker named Sri Ram told the Chinese daily that no one was providing the money to run the centre.

He said the pastor was the person who collected donations from the public to fund operations.

“He is the spiritual leader of the centre.

“He comes here three times a month and talks to the children and teenagers at the centre,” he told the Chinese daily.

“But now no one is leading the centre and donations are not coming in.

“We have no choice but to close this month,” he said, adding that he had informed the landlord and the students who used the centre of the closure.

Koh was abducted by a group of masked men on Jalan SS4B/10, less than 100 metres from the Police Housing Complex in Kelana Jaya, on Feb 13.

He was on his way to visit a friend in Kelana Jaya when the abduction took place.

CCTV footage showed the abduction was well planned and professionally executed by more than 10 men using seven vehicles.

Koh’s family is offering a reward of RM100,000 for information on his whereabouts.
