RMAF probes ragging of new officers

A social media posting claims the alleged incident involves several RMAF officers in Kuantan who were assaulted and abused.

KUANTAN:The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) will investigate an allegation that several of its officers were beaten up and abused in Kuantan.

The incident went viral on social media yesterday.

In a statement here today, it said the RMAF had been informed of the matter and that the top management would not allow such behaviour and would carry out investigations.

A social media posting had claimed the alleged incident involved several RMAF officers here who were assaulted and abused.

It claimed there was abuse of power by higher-ups, especially when it came to the “orientation” activities of new officers.

The complainant claimed the incident involved graduate officers who reported at their respective units.

The incidents were believed to have taken place during the meal and prayer breaks.

The complainant also named two officers who were allegedly irresponsible and dishonest in carrying out their duties.

He said the base commander was apparently unaware of the incidents.
