
It has resulted in a showdown between the “I Love Penang” and “Love Penang, Save Penang” logo contests, taking place at the same time.
Penang’s ruling Pakatan government had launched the “I love Penang” campaign in protest at the idea by a minister to turn the state into a federal territory.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng launched a logo contest for the campaign on Wednesday, offering cash prizes totalling RM5,000.
Today, Gerakan also started a logo contest, offering RM6,700 in prize money.
The Penang government contest requires all taking part to have the tagline #UntukNegeriKita and “I ❤ Penang” in their logo design.
It has to be in either English, Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese or Tamil, on an A4-sized paper.
The contest is open to all, except members of the Penang civil service, and must reach the State Information Department, Level 47, Komtar, by Feb 28.
Penang Gerakan’s contest, “Love Penang, Save Penang”, was launched by state party vice-chair Oh Tong Keong today.
Those taking part must include the “Love Penang, Save Penang” tagline in their entry. A description of the design in no more than 300 words must be included.
These must also be “simple and easily reproduced in print or online mediums”. Entries must be in a form of a vector-based graphics file (ai, .cdr, or .eps) and printed on A4-sized paper.
All entries can be sent to [email protected] or snail mailed/delivered to the Penang Gerakan office at 139, Jalan Macalister, 10400 George Town, Penang by March 2.
Both contests are open to all Malaysians, regardless of age.
