
Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the programme, implemented every second and third week of the month, was aimed at reducing the financial burden of the residents, particularly the younger generation.
Tengku Adnan, who is also the Putrajaya MP, said the programme, which began yesterday, was an extension of the effort carried out since last month in Labuan and Kuala Lumpur, adding that it had encouraging response from the public.
“This programme was held twice in Labuan, followed by Bandar Tun Razak, Segambut, Bukit Bintang, Setiawangsa and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur.
“The initiative will be extended to other areas in phases after this, depending on the economic situation,” he told reporters after attending the “Jom Isi Minyak” (Let’s Fill Up) programme at the Presint 9 Petronas petrol station, here,yesterday.
Two hundred motorcycles were filled up with petrol during the programme, which began at 6pm. The motorcyclists had come as early as 5pm for free fuel.
