Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) Holdings chief executive officer Abdul Wahab Abdul Hamid said the water level in Layang Dam at Pasir Gudang was now at 24.3 metres or at 60% capacity compared to the critical level of 23.5m.
“Lebam Dam in Kota Tinggi is recording a reading of 13.7m compared to the critical level of 12.27m, while the water level in Congok Dam in Mersing is at 5.40m from 4.5m previously.”
He said this after the flagging-off of the Flood Disaster Humanitarian and Technical Aid Mission to Segamat here today.
Wahab said water levels in all the dams were improving following increasing rainfall over the areas concerned and also due to the channelling of raw water from nearby rivers to the dams.
On the three-day humanitarian aid mission for flood victims, Wahab said 20 SAJ staff would be involved in clean-up operations and restoration of the drainage and household water supply piping systems that were affected by the floods.
He said SAJ would also be sending three tanker lorries with 15,000 cubic metres of clean water and five four-wheel-drive vehicles to Kampung Spang Loi and Batu Anam in Segamat for the mission.
