PETALING JAYA: Police have detained a man for allegedly creating a Facebook page warning Hindu women against dressing inappropriately at next month’s Thaipusam celebration.
The individual had threatened to spray women who wore the traditional saree but with their backs exposed, with aerosol paint.
The threat has angered many Indian women as well as women’s groups, who urged police to act against the Facebook user.
Selangor police chief Abdul Samah Mat said the 29-year-old suspect was picked up in Seberang Jaya, Penang, about 9.20 last night to facilitate investigations.
