KUALA LUMPUR:
The National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP) wants the government to expedite the installation of 1BestariNet in all schools nationwide to improve Internet access.

NUTP president Kamarozaman Abd Razak said the delay in its installation has caused teachers to utilise their own Internet services to enter the data of the students into the system.

“There are schools with no Internet access but the Education Department wants immediate data.

“However, you can’t expect teachers to submit the data using the WhatsApp application,” he told reporters here today.

1BestariNet is an initiative of the education ministry to replace and improve the information and communications technology (ICT) network system in schools nationwide.

Kamarozaman said NUTP had received various complaints on the matter and the teachers involved are currently burdened with the duty of entering the students’ data.

“Teachers want the installation of 1BestariNet to be expedited. Of what use are the gadgets provided by the ministry if there is no Internet access?
