PETALING JAYA:
The spat between Annuar Musa and the Johor crown prince (TMJ) continues.

This time, it is in relation to Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s claim that funds from Mara and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) were injected into the Kelantan Red Warriors (TRW) football team.

Shocked by the accusation, Annuar, who is the former Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) president, has stepped forward to deny the allegations.

“Some are saying that I used Mara scholarship money to sponsor TRW.

“I don’t think we lose anything if we do a little research so that we look like we have the intellectual capacity and there is substance in what we say before we just pick up on hearsay.

“For everyone’s information, Mara has not sponsored a single sen to TRW.

“Mara’s ’50th’ logo displayed on the 2016 TRW jersey was completely free even though that space is worth RM250,000.

“UniKL is a private company which has never sponsored or given scholarships to its students so the question of using its funds is irrelevant,” he said in a statement issued today.

Annuar said his comments were not aimed at any particular party but were meant for the general public.

“I’m stating these facts for everyone, including friends in the media so that all of you check your facts before making your statements.

“I do not intend to be engaged in any polemics with any individual directly or be engaged in any tit for tat because all of them are my friends.

“As friends, we already know each other and if a friend makes a mistake then we don’t prolong the issue; we forgive.

“So friends of the media, continue your good work and be careful not to insert the wrong ‘pen drives’.”

Earlier, Tunku Ismail had released a number of documents relating to the distribution of money sponsored by Mara and UniKL for the Kelantan team.

He urged Annuar to explain where Pelaburan Mara and UniKL were going with the people’s money.

“Don’t think TRW are like other teams, we have our own ways and we do not extort money using force, threats, deviation, or command.

“TRW has its own commercial package,” said Annuar.
