The Kuala Terengganu MP described the report in Mynewshub as malicious and explained that the photograph showing him with his family was from a visit to London on Oct 2, well before the floods hit Terengganu and Kelantan last month and forced thousands to leave their homes.
“In my opinion, the article was published with malice to discredit me as the people’s representative and MP chosen by the people.
“Mynewshub never contacted me to verify the story, which should have been done by any responsible journalist. I demand that they withdraw the article and apologise,” he told the media today.
In the report titled “Wakil rakyat Amanah cuti mewah di UK abai mangsa banjir”(“Amanah representative on luxury holiday in UK, neglects flood victims”), Raja Bahrin was said to have taken his child and wife Noryn Aziz on a trip to the United Kingdom.
Raja Bahrin said all his activities could be seen on his Facebook page and Instagram.
“I was on the ground in Terengganu from Dec 27 until Jan 7.
“This is an example of those who did not make an effort to verify their report.”
He said the matter had been reported to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission(MCMC) and he was also seeking legal redress.
