They want MACC to summon Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali, former Selangor menter besar Khalid Ibrahim and SPLASH chairman Wan Azmi Wan Hamzah to get to the bottom of the deal.
It was reported that the three NGOs — Badan Amal Tarbiah Sejagat (Batas), Pertubuhan Gerakan Penegak Suara Selangor (Gapenas) and Pertubuhan Suara Rakyat Marhaen (Suara) — had filed a report at Selangor MACC here on Nov 15.
Khalid had refuted Azmin’s claim that RM2.9 billion was the offer made for taking over SPLASH’s equity.
The NGOs demanded that Khalid reveal more information on a secret meeting he and then opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim allegedly had with the SPLASH management in 2013, supposedly containing discussions on a RM600 million commission.
“Azmin mentions a different number, Khalid mentions a different figure and Wan Azmi has kept mum on the issue.
“So we want MACC to call these three people in and find out the truth because while the people continue to suffer with water disruptions, millions in profit may have been made over the takeover,” said Suara adviser Zamil Ibrahim at a press conference here today.
He was met by Selangor MACC officials today where he handed over a memorandum demanding that MACC publicly announce the findings of its investigations so far.
“It has been 43 days since we lodged the report and we have been told today that Selangor MACC has handed in its findings to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
“We want MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki to tell the public what MACC has found out over the past 43 days.”
Zamil said the NGOs would give MACC 14 days to do this before they file a report to the Public Complaints Bureau.
“If they continue to remain silent, then we have the right to file a report with the bureau because they are public servants who will have failed to have carried out their duties.”
Last month, Khalid said he was ready at any moment to give a full explanation and refute any allegations at the state assembly sitting on the RM2.9 billion equity payment made to SPLASH.
