KUALA LUMPUR:
Selangor’s main water authority says it’s possible that the water cuts to Klang Valley could be over sooner than the original plan to end by Christmas Eve.

Syabas said it is confident that the water supply restoration process can be speeded up. This could mean an earlier end to the disruptions to Klang Valley’s water supply that have been scheduled to start tomorrow and end on Christmas Eve.

The disruptions to the water supply over this holiday season has upset many, with Klang Valley residents taking to the Net to complain, a petition being launched, and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok coming out strongly today to call the timing “insensitive”.

Whatever is the case, water supply will certainly be back to normal on Christmas Day.

Syabas has also warned about fake news circulating on this topic.

“With reference to the water interruption on Dec 19 due to the Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s maintenance works at the Bukit Badong substation, many unofficial Water Supply Schedules and infographics regarding the matter are currently circulating on social media,” warned Syabas.

TNB clarified today to an online news site that the disruptions were necessary because the rapids were urgent. Earlier it had said the repairs were scheduled for this period because water use was lowest at this time of the year.
