
The dead in the 4.30am incident were the driver of a Perodua Myvi car, B Kishankumar, 23, and a passenger in a Toyota Wish car, Taiwanese national Hsieh Huang Shiang.
Meanwhile the passenger of a Toyota Innova car, Muhammad Faiq Amri Ramlan was seriously injured.
Melaka Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Acting Supt Mohd Sham Abdullah said Kishankumar died at the scene of the accident while Hsieh died while receiving medical treatment at the Melaka Hospital’s Emergency Department.
“Preliminary investigations found that the accident was believed to have happened when the Toyota Innova driven by Ramlan Mohd Ali, 51, which was travelling from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur skidded to the middle of the road after it collided into an object.
“The vehicle then collided into the Toyota Wish driven by tour guide Kek Chian Seng, 36, who was coming from the same direction,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.
He said Amiruddin Abdullah, 47, who was travelling in the same direction managed to stop the lorry he was driving, but collided into the Perodua Myvi driven by Kishankumar.
The three victims – Amiruddin, Ramlan and Kek did not suffer any injuries.
Mohd Sham said the bodies of Kishankumar and Hsieh were sent to the Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem.
