GEORGE TOWN:
A frustrated Gerakan leader hit out at Penang executive councillor Chow Kon Yeow today for his inability to answer simple questions regarding the sale of heritage properties to foreigners.

Penang Gerakan Youth assistant secretary Loh Kit Mun said he had merely asked how many heritage properties had been sold to foreigners between 2008 and now.

“I want to ask, is YB Chow ‘ nyanyuk’ (already senile)?

“The state assembly members have asked the government twice. On both occasions, straight answers were not given,” Loh said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Loh had again asked the Penang government to clarify how many foreigners owned properties in the George Town World Heritage Site.

He said the government had given contradictory answers on the two occasions the question was raised in the state assembly.

Earlier today, Chow had clarified why different figures were provided at the assembly on the ownership details of “certain sections” of the heritage site.

Chow said his reply was based on information provided by the land and mines department director.
