HULU TERENGGANU:
The Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is investigating the dissemination of defamatory images linking the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the prime minister during the swearing in ceremony and signing of the instrument of office last Tuesday.

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Jailani Johari said the ministry was conducting an investigation after receiving complaints regarding the images, said to be Sultan Muhammad V refraining from shaking hands (bersalaman) with Najib Razak.

“I wonder why we still have people, who in my opinion, are shallow-minded and like to spread defamatory images such as these.

“When the MCMC receives complaints from anyone, we will not hesitate to take action. We will wait for the outcome of the investigation,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after officiating at the Risda Hulu Terengganu district level 2017 school supplies donation presentation ceremony here today.

He said during the ceremony, the king shook hands with all the national leaders.

“Any parties or consumers who find any defamatory images or matters that can threaten or disrupt public order can make complaints either to the police or MCMC for further action.

“I also want to warn those who are irresponsible … we at the commission will not hesitate to take action.”

Meanwhile, commenting on the possibility of consumers experiencing telecommunication disruptions due to upgrading work until next June, Jailani said the ministry had requested MCMC to monitor it so that services run smoothly
