PETALING JAYA:
A day after top leaders of PAS and PKR shared a stage, a PAS leader has urged PKR to be firm with its Pakatan Harapan partner Amanah over seat allocations.

In a statement, Batu PAS Youth chief Nurul Islam Mohamed Yusoff said Amanah Youth chief Mohd Sany Hamzan’s statement that Amanah was ready to place a candidate in the Batu parliamentary constituency showed the party’s “true colours”.

The incumbent for the Batu seat is PKR vice-president Tian Chua. He has been the incumbent since winning the seat in the 2008 general election (GE12).

In the past two general elections, Tian Chua defeated candidates from Gerakan, winning by a large majority on both occasions.

Nurul said after “running away” with seats won on a PAS ticket, Amanah, a PAS splinter party, was now threatening to snatch PKR’s Batu seat.

“PKR must take note of this and be firm against Amanah’s threats,” he said, adding Amanah’s numerous statements about wanting to contest PAS seats showed the party was only interested in exacting vengeance against PAS rather than opposing Barisan Nasional.

“Perhaps PKR is starting to reconsider their relationship with a party like this. Don’t regret if betrayed by them.”

“If Amanah really has the strength to win the Batu seat and disagrees with Tian Chua’s statement on the need to get PAS’ support to retain the seat, I challenge Amanah to announce their candidate for the seat in the next general election (GE14) quickly.”

Yesterday, PAS shared a stage with PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) for a ceramah, which was billed as a move towards the forming of an opposition bloc in Selangor.

Neither Amanah nor DAP were invited to the ceramah.
