In a statement today, Honda Malaysia said its 84 authorised service dealers nationwide would mobilise its associates to go door-to-door and approach the affected customers at their premises from now until Dec 31, 2016.
“The exercise is to further increase awareness and emphasis on the importance of replacing the airbag inflators to help expedite the free-of-charge replacement.
“The customers are encouraged to urgently replace them as the affected airbag inflators manufactured by Takata may deploy with excessive internal pressure when activated.
“The casing might rupture and may result in injury or fatality to the driver and passenger,” it said.
Honda said it was also working closely with the Road Transport Department to approach current owners of the affected Honda cars based on the department’s data.
“The affected customers can also visit our Honda service central hubs to replace their airbag inflators,” it added.
For further enquiry on the replacement appointment, customers can contact the Honda toll-free number at 1-800-88-2020.
