GEORGE TOWN:
With just six hours away to the final, it’s a numbers game for Malaysia’s own funny man Harith Iskander as  Filipino Alex Calleja trails him closely for the “Funniest Person in the World” award.

Harith says Calleja was almost “neck and neck” with him in the vote tally so far.

“Since the population of the Philippines outnumbers Malaysia, they might have an advantage in votes. And the Philippines is campaigning very hard.

“But I have faith in Malaysians, we can make a difference, so come out and vote.

“Malaysia boleh!” he told FMT.

Harith urged all to vote for him at www.voteforharith.com

Harith is currently in Helsiniki, Finland, as Malaysia’s sole representative in Laugh Factory’s Funniest Person in the World Competition.

Organised by American comedy club Laugh Factory, the competition began on Sept 1.

It consisted of three rounds, with 89 comedians from 56 countries.

Harith made it to the top 20 last Sunday.

He will be judged by five professional judges and also by the number of likes he gets from his video online (see link above).

The winner will be determined by points accumulated from the judges and points from online likes. The online voting ends Saturday (tomorrow) at 1.30pm.

Harith, among four others, stands to win US$100,000 (RM440,000) and a US stand-up comedy tour.

A live stream of the final would be shown online at 2am tonight Malaysian time (Saturday morning) on the Laugh Factory YouTube site https://www.youtube.com/laughfactory.
