KUALA LUMPUR: An elderly American man was charged in the magistrate’s court here today with killing his ex-wife in a hotel room last month.
Mickelson Gerald Wayne, 61, a construction company consultant, who wore a T-shirt with a grey collar, nodded at the charge which was read to him in English before Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin.
No plea was recorded from the accused as the case was under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
He was charged with killing Guilda Mickelson, 62, also an American citizen in the room of a hotel at Lingkaran Syed Putra, Brickfields, here between 5am and 11.45am on Nov 26.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for death by hanging, if found guilty.
The court fixed Feb 7 for re-mention of the case.
The prosecution of the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Aftal Mariz Mohamed while the accused was not represented.
