
He said the girl had been placed under the care of a child psychiatrist and was responding positively to the rehabilitation process since her admission to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani on Nov 24.
“She is able to open both her eyes which were swollen when she was brought to the hospital,” he told Bernama.
He also said an ENT specialist would test the girl’s hearing before she is discharged from hospital.
Norhizan said the girl was able to get along well with the nurses, having recovered from her trauma and was now not shying away from adults.
The girl was admitted to hospital after police found her and the body of her two-year-old brother in an ice box at a unit of the Paya Nahu Flats in Sungai Petani on Nov 24.
The police have remanded the children’s mother and her boyfriend for seven days from Nov 25 to help in the investigation into the murder and child abuse.
