PETALING JAYA:
Michelle Yeoh will get beamed into the upcoming Star Trek series, set to air on CBS’ All Access, which is the network’s premium streaming service.

Speaking to Coming Soon, the show’s consulting producer Nicholas Meyer said: “I know Michelle Yeoh is in it.”

The series is said to be moving away from having a starship captain. Instead, it will portray a female lieutenant commander.

Meyer, however, did not disclose if Yeoh is to play the lead role but Coming Soon said that her “role is potentially the series’ lead”.

The pilot episode will air on CBS in May 2017 and then it will move to All Access.

On her Facebook page, Yeoh shared the article from Coming Soon, with a brief caption, “Awesome #StarTrek”.

Born in Ipoh, Yeoh previously starred as a Bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies.

She then went on to star in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and The Lady, among others.
