This came after FMT spotted a letter, purportedly written by Mahdzir, informing her about the revocation due to unavoidable circumstances.
“Any inconvenience is regretted,” he wrote.
In confirming the matter, a source from the ministry also said there was no need to explain the matter further.
“It is the minister’s prerogative. Only he knows why,” the source told FMT.
Geethanjali, however, denied that she was relieved of her post, claiming it was “illogical” as she had not received any letter regarding the latest status of her appointment.
“I was not notified about it. Neither has the minister called me to inform me. If my appointment was really cancelled, he would have let me know,” the businesswoman said when contacted.
However, the former Miss Malaysia-Universe finalist said she would continue to carry out her duties as an adviser until then.
Yesterday, Geethanjali had posted on her Facebook page that she was appointed as a special adviser to Mahdzir on media affairs and uploaded a picture of herself shaking hands with the latter while holding what was presumably her appointment letter.
