Rafizi said it was the right thing to do to avoid “wasting everybody’s time”.
“Why do we want to waste the police’s time when they should be focusing on more important issues?
“Declaring your assets is a self-checking and self-regulatory mechanism. I think everyone should do it, more so Jamal (Yunos),” Rafizi told reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat today.
Asked if PKR would instruct Adam to do declare his assets, Rafizi said the party did not have such a rule for its members.
“I don’t think any party has such a rule requiring individuals to declare their assets. The declaration of assets, especially for individual members, is not in the Constitution.”
Red Shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos, who took reporters on a helicopter ride over Adam’s house yesterday afternoon, is demanding the youth leader explain his wealth.
Jamal said he was not throwing accusations, but merely asking Adam to answer questions on how he had gained his extraordinary wealth.
Adam, in response, challenged Jamal to lodge a report with the police or the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
The 28-year-old, who is also the special officer of PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, allegedly owns a luxurious mansion in Jalan Pinang, Ampang.
According to Adam, it was not unusual to have wealth or a “Datuk” title in this day and age.
He also explained that he had to bid for the property in question, which was worth RM1 million and not RM7 million as claimed by Jamal.
